Our Beliefs

We are a congregation of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. The standard of our teaching, subordinate to scripture, can be found in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Testimony of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America.

The Bible - Our churches are marked by a thorough commitment to the full authority and inerrancy of the Bible.

Reformed Doctrine - We believe that the Bible breathes God's majesty, wisdom and power as it describes all that he is and all that he does. Considering salvation, our forgiveness and hope for eternal acceptance in God's kingdom is understood to be purely and absolutely a gift. Great comfort is available to each believer, as they rest in the fact that the security of this hope is anchored in the decided and particular will of God from before the creating of the world. The Scripture also, and without conflict, teaches the genuine responsibility of humans for their actions. Salvation by faith is freely and truly offered to all people.

The Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the only infallible rule for faith and life.

The historical Christ's work (his sinless life and his suffering as a substitute) and that alone, are sufficient for our justification and reconciliation to God.

God's self-initiated grace alone rescues us from our sin and from the inevitable, just punishment that would follow our death.

The Holy Spirit changes the heart so that we respond to God in faith. This gracious salvation occurs always and only through this given faith and not through any achievement of sincerity, character or merit by us.

The entire purpose for our lives is the glory of God, both now and forever.

The Scriptures show an unbroken continuity of Covenant between Old and New Testaments. The New Covenant is indeed new, in that the realities of that to which the previous symbols had pointed have come, but the substance and salvation of both the Covenants is the same - the finished work of Jesus Christ, by grace alone, through faith alone.

We believe that Jesus Christ is alive and currently reigning from heaven as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, over all in the spiritual realm, and over every nation and tribe and language. Every facet of life ought to be offered to him in loyal and wholehearted service.

Worship - The style and content of our services are very simple, featuring:

Baptism and the Lord's Supper, on their occasions

The reading and preaching of the Bible

Prayer

Reports of God's good work

Congregational a cappella singing of the Biblical Psalms set to music

A blessing for God's people

Our practice in singing is well known to fairly recent history, but virtually non-existent today. We believe that you can find the constant use of the scriptures and the simplicity to be very edifying and refreshing!
